Sedation Instructions & Policy
When being sedated for a medical procedure, it is critical that these instructions are read very carefully and followed precisely to ensure that we will be able to proceed safely the day of your procedure.
Fast the night before your procedure
You MUST stop eating and drinking by midnight the night before your procedure. This means no solid food, no liquid food, and no fluids (including water, coffee, etc.). Eating/drinking after midnight increases your risk of aspiration (airway obstruction) during the procedure and WILL RESULT IN CANCELLATION.
If you fail to follow these instructions, you will be rescheduled and charged a $100 last minute cancellation fee.
Please arrive 15 minutes early
Please arrive 15 minutes early to your appointment to allow time for your IV to be placed and for all preop questions to be answered. If you are late, this may result in your procedure being rescheduled.
You MUST have a driver
After being sedated, you may NOT drive for the remainder of the day and will be REQUIRED to have a trusted individual drive you home safely. Uber and Lyft are NOT acceptable transportation methods.
Sedation is billed separately
Please be aware that the sedation is billed separately from the procedure and that staff does NOT have access to this information. For any anesthesia billing questions you may have, please call our billing department and they can assist you.
If you have any other questions prior to your procedure, please contact our office at
(208) 672-4640; we are more than happy to help!
If you are taking any GLP-1 medication, you must discontinue its use at least 7 days prior to your scheduled procedure requiring sedation.
IMPORTANT: Failure to follow this requirement will result in your procedure being rescheduled and a $100 last-minute rescheduling fee.
